If you’re looking to improve your health and fitness level, it pays to take note of some of the most common food and exercise myths that tend to circulate around and lead you astray.

By making note of these and then being sure that you don’t fall prey to them, you can get yourself pointed in the right direction.

Let’s go over what you need to know.

Eating Healthy Is Expensive

The first myth that you need to know about is the myth that eating healthy is expensive. So many people believe this myth and it’s one big reason why they don’t make the transition to eat better.

This is furthest from the case. If you’re constantly eating out and buying fast or convenience food, this can actually be more expensive than eating healthy is.

The trick to eat healthy on a budget is to shop during sales and stock up on frozen meats when they are at a discounted price.

In addition to that, purchase fresh fruits and vegetables when they are in season and will come at a reduced price.

You Must Exercise One Hour A Day

Next, another common myth is that you have to exercise for at least one hour each day for it to be beneficial. Again, this isn’t the case at all.

Any form of movement for however long you do it will count toward your daily quota. So get up and get moving – whether it’s walking to check the mail, going swimming on a hot afternoon, or doing some house cleaning, all of these will help you get fit and maintain a healthy body weight.

You Should Always Avoid Unhealthy Food

Another myth is that you have to eat 100% perfect 100% of the time. Again, you should never strive for perfection.

It is okay to eat foods that you crave from time to time, you just need to make sure you’re doing this in moderation. Don’t go too crazy and then make sure that you’re having a healthy day the next day.

For example, if ice cream is what you want as a snack on Monday, go for it. But Tuesday, choose an energy health bar instead, which is a more nutritionally wise choice.

Do Cardio To Lose Weight And Weight Training To Build Muscle

Another myth that is often believed by those seeking fitness and fat loss results is that you should do cardio training to lose weight and strength training to build muscle.

While cardio training can assist with weight loss, strength training is actually far more powerful for losing weight and completely changing the way you look.

It should be the variety of training that you tend to gravitate to most often.

Fruit Is Too High In Sugar b

Finally, some people believe that fruit is too high in sugar content to be included as part of a healthy diet plan. While it is true that fruit does contain some sugar, it’s natural fruit sugar and it also contains a wealth of nutrients and fiber as well, so is a great food to be eating. It’s not to be missed out on!

So there you have some of the key exercise and nutrition myths that you must make sure you aren’t falling for.

Are any of these getting to you?
