Great mascara application can make a big difference to an overall makeup look – and these 5 celebrities all have their own special tips and techniques for getting the look just right. Some have a method for what they do first, while others have figured out how to add extra curl or length to their lashes. Sharing their amazing tips for mascara application, these stars have generously divulged their unique and personal top tips.

1.      AnnaSophia Robb

AnnaSophia explained her trick for applying mascara: "So naturally, I just have really long eyelashes. It's a problem because they make it look like I have bags where my lower lashes hit. But the type of mascara doesn’t really matter as much as how you put it on. Take a fan brush, and brush your mascara wand with it, then coat your lashes from the base to the tip, so you're painting your eyelashes. Then paint your lower ones. They don't clump, and they're all individually coated."

2. Carrie Underwood

Carrie believes using different mascaras can build lashes:  “I noticed that every makeup artist I worked with always used more than one mascara, so slowly I developed this formula. I layer [Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara for length, Too Faced Lash Injection Mascara for volume and Maybelline New York Great Lash Mascara for definition] one on top of the other. I love how it looks.”

3. Emma Roberts

Emma thinks applying a brown mascara can create a softer overall look: “I’ve been using brown mascara and eyeliner lately. I never considered it until just recently, but it’s so much softer.”

4. Holly Willoughby

Holly heats up her mascara wand: "I actually tend to curl my eyelashes by heating up my mascara wand for a couple of seconds with a hairdryer. It really works – just make sure you don’t heat it up too much and singe your eyelids!"

5. Kate Winslet

Kate uses an eyeliner brush to get the roots of her lashes: "Put mascara on the roots of your lashes with a flat-ended eyeliner brush. It makes the whites of the eyes seem whiter and keeps the lids from appearing too heavy. That's a good one. I can't get enough of that one, actually!"
