Oily skin leads to a shiny, greasy look, clogged pores, acne eruption and self-esteem issues. And usually, overactive sebaceous glands are blamed for causing skin becomes too oily. Sometime, oily skin is hard to cure and many with this problem feel that they need to clean it up constantly and always try to dissolve it. Fortunately, there’re many ways to control this oil beast (at least for the most part) and make you more comfortable.

Sometime, oily skin is hard to cure

1.    Choose cleansers for yourself wisely. You might be tempted to choose the hardest and alcohol-filled products, but it is better not to. In fact, it may produce even more when you try to strip your skin of its oil, so take a mild cleanser instead.

2.    Skip cream-based cleansers and pick gel instead. No matter how much you rinse, cream-based cleansers often leave a little of its residue, which is not good for oily skin.

3.    Wash your face twice a day in the morning and evening, no more. While it sounds reasonable to wash your face regularly to control oil, this, in fact, will dry your skin out and lead to the production of even more oil.

4.    Use blotting paper, which is created to control oily skin. Using this kind of paper can help remove the oil and reduce shine-looking, whether you’re wearing makeup or not. However, this will not terminate or reduce the production of oil on your skin.

5.    Only use oil-free makeup. Fortunately, you can easily find plenty of choice in most makeup counters. You definitely want to stay away from any product that contains moisturizer.

6.    Add translucent powder into your makeup arsenal as well as powder puff. You can use them to control oil and keep your foundation look new and fresh.

7.    Apply clay-based facial mask a few times a week. These masks are very useful in cleaning the pores.

8.    Use astringents in moderation; be especially careful with astringents that contain alcohol or acetone as they may cause redness or skin irritation if you overuse. You might even skip them altogether to get better results.

9.    Try products that contain salicylic or glycolic acid, since both of them are known for controlling oil on skin. However, remember that they will not help with curing the oil-production problem. Instead, they will help control oil on the skin.

·         If these over-the-counter products cannot help you control your oily skin or your oily skin even get worse, see a dermatologist. You may be suffering from some skin diseases.

·         Don’t skip applying sunscreen. You need to protect your skin from harmful sunrays no matter what your skin type is. Therefore, choose an oil-free sunscreen, preferably a gel formula.
