British model Jourdan Dunn has opened up on menswear catwalk shows, revealing that he believes male models have to show even “more confidence” than female models when walking a fashion show because they don’t have heels to help them walk in a certain way. Jourdan thinks you have to “sell it” no matter what look you’re wearing and it’s all about the right walk and attitude:
”It’s easier but then they have to bring a little something because when we wear heels we give a bit more of a walk. They have to bring more confidence, more swagger I guess. Even if you think you look silly in your outfit you have to be confident and sell it.”
The model says she is a big fan of androgynous and unisex fashion, and loves pieces that could be for either gender. She commented on her personal style: ”I love menswear and I prefer it to womenswear sometimes. I have a huge collection of sneakers and oversized Ts.”
Currently the face of British luxury label Burberry alongside model Naomi Campbell, Jourdan recently attended the company’s Menswear Autumn/Winter 2015 show in London and was wowed by what she saw. Several items caught her eye and she was particularly impressed with the statement colours and prints used:
”The [Burberry] collection was really beautiful: the colours; I liked the fringe scarves and the leopard print – that was like OK Burberry!”
Jourdan added that she is excited to work even harder over the next year and is looking forward to the upcoming Fashion Weeks: “I’m really excited to get back into it, even fashion week and I hate fashion week but I’m kind of really looking forward to getting stuck in there.”
