Inès de La Fressange Takes a Long Time to Put an Outfit Together

Inès de La Fressange Takes a Long Time to Put an Outfit Together_1French style icon Inès de La Fressange has opened up on her personal fashion sense, revealing that despite what people might think, she does have to put in a good deal of effort to look stylish. She often simply resorts to wearing what she knows works and when she’s attending a party, she brings a change of clothing in her bag just in case she got the dress code wrong and needs to alter her look for the evening. She explained:

“The idea that most French women put no work into their style is bulls**t! For me, it takes me a long time to get dressed. First I put on one outfit based on whatever is in my imagination. I put on a skirt, or a dress, or a suit. And then I look in thee mirror and I hate it, and I feel bad about myself. So then I put on my blue jeans and a sweater, because I know they work. But I’m so insecure, I bring other clothes to parties in my bag, because I think, ‘What if I’m dressed totally wrong and I need to change?’”

Speaking on shoes, Inès reveals that they need to be simple, elegant and adaptable, in the sense that they always improve an outfit and look great. She thinks “minimalism” is the best way to go and she’s particularly a fan of the shoes Bruno Frisoni creates because they’re so flawlessly made:

“I like elegant things. I think shoes especially need a lot of elegance. Trendy things are not easy to wear, and for shoes, it’s a question of minimalism. Can you wear them everywhere? Do they make you look better? Are they beautiful? That’s it, and [designer] Bruno [Frisoni] makes them beautiful and elegant because he’s very precise. He’s a maniac, you know.”
