Brazilian
model Lais Ribeiro, a star of the current Victoria’s Secret ad campaign, peeks
out from behind a pair of wings and a crush of tulle. Tom Pecheux’s make-up
team apply the finishing touches (second from right) before sending Ribeiro out
on the glitter-strewn runway.
Eye-popping
colour is combined with delicate tailoring for these fantasy creations.
“It’s
always an interesting proposal to make these big themed outfits with such
little fabric,” says Victoria’s Secret designer Todd Thomas.
Kanye
West mingles backstage before the show, hanging around with Miranda Kerr and
Chanel Iman. West’s performance of “Stronger” had the audience dancing wildly,
as did a surprise appearance from Jay-Z.
These
wings aren’t made for flying – Alessandra Ambrosio reported beefing up her
Pilates regimen in order to support her 18kg costume.
Newly
minted Angel Karlie Kloss wears the show’s closing look, which features white
neon-lined cartoon win gs and a disco-ball bustle.
Lindsay
Ellingson walks in the “Angels Aquatic” segment of the show, which features
musical accompaniment from Maroon 5. Of strutting down the runway in a
G-string, Ellingson jokes, “I just imagine I’m wearing a full bathrobe.”
Streamers,
Confetti and heart-shaped Mylar balloons fill the air at the show’s finale, as
Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima join hands and lead a parade of dancing
models down the catwalk.
