South
African model Candice Swanepoel has revealed that when she first started her
career, she was encouraged by her parents to keep going, and her mother in
particular told her to continue working. Candice explains that there weren't
many opportunities for her in her native country, so she is glad her parents
showed their support and helped her through that difficult time: "In the
beginning, my parents were the ones who encouraged me to keep modelling because
there weren't many opportunities in South Africa for young people. If I was
ever homesick and wanted to come home, my mum was strong and said I should
stick it out."
The
model reveals that she has always loved how her mother, Eileen, styled herself
in the 80s. Candice enjoys looking back at her mom's old outfits and takes much
of her style inspiration from that era: "I love her style. In the 80s, she
was an aerobics teacher and she permed her hair and wore these huge earrings
and high-cut thong leotards. A lot of my style inspiration comes from the 70s
and 80s."
The
Victoria's Secret Angel adds that she doesn't like to deprive herself and she
often eats full English breakfasts. After a show, she also loves to chow down
on a burger as a special treat: "I eat really healthily in general - I
just feel better that way. I train as much as I can. My victory meal after a
show is usually a beer and a burger. I do love a full English breakfast as well
- eggs, bacon, the whole thing, which actually, I don't cut out during the show
because breakfast you can eat whatever."
