Haute
Couture Spring/Summer 2014 fashion week is currently underway in Paris and
already we’ve seen some amazing designer pieces that we’re bound to see pop up
during the rest of awards season - we’re already scanning the Dior show to
figure out which dress Jennifer Lawrence will wear to the Oscars! It wasn’t
just the fashion that made a big impact on the catwalk – hair and makeup is
just as important when it comes to creating an overall image. Here is a rundown
of the top 5 beauty looks spotted so far.
1. Alexis Mabille
You simply
can’t go wrong with a classic matte red lip and Alexis Mabille has opted for
the lip to be the focal point of the label’s beauty Haute Couture look. With a
pale orangey eyeshadow setting it off and adding another hint of colour, this
is still subtle and doesn’t overpower the clothing. The beauty look was
finished off with loose side-swept hair that looked natural but understatedly
elegant.
2. Chanel
Chanel’s
artistic vision was completed with dramatic stand-up spiked hair and glittering
silver eyeliner worn below the waterline. This was in addition to a black
cateye on the upper eye and sharp, penciled-in eyebrows.
3. Christian Dior
Feminine and
simple, the Christian Dior Haute Couture show played it casual and minimal with
slightly wet-look locks that were tossed to the side and loosely wavy. The
beauty look was just as unfussy – nude lips, a peachy complexion and minimal
makeup around the eyes.
4. Giambattista Valli
Opting for
something attention-grabbing, the beauty look at the Giambattista Valli show
stood out as one of the most creative. Models wore thickly lined upper eyes
with retro cateye flicks. The look was completed with slicked back hair.
5. Versace
Taking
inspiration from current muse Lady Gaga, Versace’s beauty look was dark and
edgy. Bold smoky eyes, glossy lips and a flawless complexion were paired with
sleek straightened hair.
