We bring you our favourite moments
from backstage at the international spring/summer 2012 collections, where
optimism reigned and femininity made its return.
Louis
Vuitton: A deliciously sweet collection full of frivolity and exquisite detail
with a distinctly feminine feel.
Prada:
Lace coats, bathing suits, sexy bandeau tops and leather pencil skirts combined
with crystal jewels and automotive inconography from the ‘50s for a ladylike
look with a smouldering edge.
Marni:
The house showed off clean lines and precise yet elegant silhouettes, as
pretty-as-a-picture printed tunics, with cut-outs placed just so, stole the
spotlight.
Céline:
Sculptural pieces with a nod to couture shapes of the ’50s and ’60s shone in a
collection that was supremely sleek and modern, from the rounded shoulders to
the peplum-trimmed tops.
Cue
supreme sophistication in the form of an architectural aesthetic. The bright
paisley print and below-the-knee dresses were the standouts in this simply chic
collection.
Givenchy:
With a focus on sexy tailoring that was both sharp and soft at the same time,
the house showed super-slim pants, refined, sharp-shouldered jackers trimmed
with swirling peplums, and neat little curved-hem skirts.
