Peter Jensen has taken his usual quirky vision to a new
artistic place for his latest Resort 2014 collection which has been inspired by
pop artist Andy Warhol. Primary block colours form the basis of this bright
collection, while a hint of gingham, subtle repeat patterns and some pop art inspired
prints add further focal points. Commenting on his inspiration source, Peter reveals
that he was inspired by actress Paulette Goddard at first and later he learned
of her connection to Warhol and it opened a new source of inspiration because
he decided to combine their different signature looks to create something fresh.
He says many of his ideas came via the 70s and especially from the days of the
famous nightclub of that era – The Factory. He spoke on how he mixed Paulette’s
and Andy’s styles together for a unique take on the look:
‘It started with [American
actress] Paulette Goddard as the muse for my Resort collection and then I found
out that she spent a lot of time in the ’70s with Warhol in The Factory,’
explains Peter. ‘It was the perfect pairing for the collection. I love Warhol
and wish I was like him... standing in the background saying “yeah” all the
time.’
