American
designer Cynthia Vincent has collaborated with retailer Best Buy, creating a
new collection of tech accessories featuring beautiful prints that are created
from durable, scratch-resistant materials. The accessories designer was
suggested by the Council of Fashion Designers of America to the company to take
part in their fashion-meets-tech program which has previously seen them
collaborate with designer names such as Anna Sui. Although it was a first for
Cynthia, she commented that she adapted to the task and enjoyed the new design
experience because it has been something she has thought about doing for a
while: “I always wanted to get into this category. It’s a natural extension of
handbags.”
Jason
Bonfig, Best Buy senior category officer, commented that the company were
thrilled to collaborate with Cynthia because she is a name their customers
already love: "Cynthia Vincent Nanette Lepore, Isaac Mizrahi—these are all
names that women know and love, and we know how important technology
accessories are for our customers." The products were recently shared at a
special event held at Coachella Music Festival 2015 where they were introduced
to fashion bloggers, editors and other members of the media with a special
brunch set and party to celebrate the launch. Featuring cases for tablets,
smartphones and laptops all at affordable prices, the collection is budget-friendly,
practical and stylish. Each piece includes the designer’s name on a plaque or
gold-embossed lettering to add a further touch of luxury. Inspired by tie-dye,
batik and other dying methods for the vibrant prints used throughout, the
designs have a fashion-forward bohemian vibe while also providing protection
against potential damage.
