Five Tips For Classicists
I know what I like and I tend to buy it
over and over again. Case in point: I currently own 10 pairs of black open-toe
ankle boots, all pretty much interchangeable but all, obviously, entirely
necessary. I don’t like to make trend-led purchases because I know more classic
pieces will last a lifetime; they will need to, given the price. I have a
red-leather Hermès Collier du Chien silver studded cuff which cost $1200
(thanks, Future Husband), but that kind of signature piece will never date. I
hate the idea of disposable fashion and I think this is the thing that most
dictates my style – I’m never going to be the girl who wears neon.

Five tips for classicists
1. The right accessories make an outfit. I feel perfectly well-dressed
with a Chanel handbag, even if I’m just wearing denim.
2. I don’t hit Bond Street. I look on eBay, Yoox.com and then in
designer exchange shops like Retro Woman in London’s Notting Hill for vintage
pieces.
3. Zara does the best high-street shoes.
4. I am totally obsessed with these cobalt-blue Manolo Blahnik
stilettos – if you buy something in a strong colour, be sure to keep the shape
classic.
5. I love Nike trainers – the brighter the better – for my morning bike
ride.
