Iconic
fashion label Calvin Klein has teamed up with online retailer Net-a-Porter to
launch a capsule collaboration collection. The exclusive designs will capture
the essence of the brand and will feature just 14 items, with many of the
designs being simple dresses. The label's current creative director, Francisco
Costa, commented that the line is heavily inspired by the classic Calvin Klein
look but the final results were edited by the Net-a-Porter company: “It really
is very DNA-driven, very Calvin. We presented the collection as a lifestyle
collection including jackets, trousers, sweaters, [and more]. Then they made an
edit, and the edit turned out to be mostly dresses because it is the category
we do so well with."
The
designer says that he does believe being practical is an important part of
fashion and is a big factor when it comes to getting dressed, so he thinks
women should look for shapes that are easy to wear and colours that just suit
them: "Practicality is important... At Calvin Klein, we encourage women to
be comfortable at all times. You want easy shapes and colours."
Advising
women on how they can quickly and simply update their wardrobes without having
to completely overhaul their style, Costa says a few subtle changes can make a
big difference to an overall look: "Refresh your silhouettes. Don’t be
afraid to play around with your clothes - change the length of your pencil
skirt, cinch in your waist or shorten the sleeves on your jacket. It means you
can continue to wear your favourite pieces season after season."
