British
shoe designer Sophia Webster is bringing her whimsical design aesthetic to a
new shoe collaboration collection with American label J. Crew. Featuring fun
floral, stripe and abstract prints splashed on stilettos, ankle strap heels and
more, the newly unveiled collection is feminine and playful. Speaking on being
approached by the company to collaborate, Sophia comments that she was thrilled
to be contacted because she has always admired the company's work: "I
was delighted when Jenna [Lyons] approached me to design a collection for
J.Crew. The brand has a real sense of fun and colour that I love and I think
that my designs compliment their clothes well."

Lyons, president and executive creative director of J.Crew, commented that
Sophia's shoes are always very unique and she is a talented
designer: "Sophia Webster is one of the most exciting and talented
British designers. Her shoes are like miniature sets - a beautiful world for
your feet to spend the day in. Each shoe tells a unique story."
J.
Crew's head designer Tom Mora believes collaborating with Sophia worked well
for them because they are both attracted to bright colours and bold
patterns: "Sophia Webster seemed like such a natural fit for
J.Crew. We are so well known for our love of color and pattern-mixing, and
I think this is something we really share with her, it's part of her DNA as a
designer." The new shoe collection is set to hit stores and the J. Crew
website from the beginning of May.
