Winter melon

The main component of winter melon is water. Its nutrient content is relatively low and not fat. Every 100g winter melon contains 0.4g protein, 2,4g glucide, 19mg calcium, 12mg phosphate, 0,3mg iron and many kinds of vitamins such as Carotene, B1, B2, B3, C…

According to traditional medicine, winter melon is sweet, blank taste, cool, so it is used for heat-relieving, thirst-quenching, diuretic, detoxifying and slimming. So in hot weather of summer, using winter melon frequently helps release and prevent the thirst effectively. Apart from being used as food, winter melon can be processed into a lot of skin care remedies, simple but effective.

Winter melon juice

500g of peeled winter melon, remove the inside, wash, extract for the water, put a little salt, divide into drink several times a day.

Uses: prevention of sunstroke, pimples, impetigo, prickly heat...

Winter melon glue

500g of peeled winter melon and remove the inside, 1.5 liters of alcohol, 1 liter of water, 0.5 kg of honey. Slice winter melon into small pieces, and pour them into the mixture of water + alcohol. Heat in medium fire in about 6 hours until only 1 bowl of water is left, and mash by a wooden ladle. Then filter through a cloth. Pour back into the pot and add honey to the mixture, then boil for 2 hours until it becomes pasty.

Use 200g of winter melon, 1lotus leaf, 1 liter of water. Wash winter melon, cut into small slices, shred lotus leaf. Boil two of them for 1 hour, add a little salt, then use as a beverage.

Uses: heat-relieving, very good for people with pimples, mouth ulcer, obesity, dyslipidemia.

Aloe Vera

Aloe leave is available in supermarkets. The inside part may be used to cook sweet porridge, mix orange juice, lemon juice, which is cool and good for skin.

Besides, you can also make aloe syrup as follows: Choose a few large leaves (about 600gr),clean, trim away the prickly edges, chop into small pieces, put in blender with honey (about 3 spoons) and white alcohol (4-6 spoons), then grind.  Before using, shake it up. The mixture can be taken three times a day, 15 minutes before breakfast, lunch and dinner. It helps to nurture, heal lesions, and purify blood.

·         Sunstroke: 1 big glass of watermelon juice, drink into several times.

·         Alcohol solution: 1 big glass of watermelon juice, drink into several times.

Tomato contains nutrition and important antioxidants such as manganese, calcium, potassium good for your health as well as your skin. So add tomato into your meals every day to help regain the natural soft white skin.

Shrinking sweat pores

A teaspoon of fresh tomato juice will be mixed with 4 drops of lemon juice. Use a cotton pad to apply the mixture to your face. Leave for 15 minutes then wash your face with cold water.

Healing acne

Cut half a tomato and apply on face. Keep in 1 hour, then rinse thoroughly and apply moisturizer.

Cleaning oil

Crush tomato, cucumber and filter for water. Use a cotton pad to apply this mixture on your face every day.

Lightening

Mix honey (or fresh milk) with tomato juice and then apply to your face. Wait in 15 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.

Difference of tomato from other fruits and vegetables is that well-done cooking is better than raw eating. One research shows that when cooking tomato to 88oC within 2 minutes, 15 minutes and 30 minutes, the longer time we cook, the concentration of lycopene in particular and other antioxidants in general increase. Lycopene is a natural antioxidant, forming distinct red color of tomato, more red fruit contains more lycopene. Lycopene is considered being capable of preventing formation of free radicals which causes cancer such as breast cancer, prostate, pancreatic and colon.
