Actress
Zoe Saldana has revealed her homemade beauty secrets which were passed down to
her by her mother. Zoe says that they used to create their own beauty
treatments together from organic foodstuffs that they'd already have: ''Everything
was organic and stuff that we already had in the kitchen.'' Opening up on one
hair mask she learned how to make, Zoe details her own recipe to create a
moisturizing hair mask from fresh avocados which she likes to leave on her hair
for half an hour to sink in: ''Overripe avocados are perfect.
You mash them up with a little olive oil, and let the mixture sit on your hair
for 30 minutes. It makes me hungry, so I usually end up rinsing it out too
soon."
The
actress is also fond of clearing up her hair by rinsing her locks with white
vinegar which she swears by to fix up its balance. She makes sure to do a
vinegar rinse once monthly and says it makes a difference: ''Once a
month I rinse my hair with white vinegar and warm water to restore
the pH balance to my strands.''
Opening
up on another childhood beauty secret, Zoe reveals that as a young girl she
used to lighten up her dark hair by soaking it in rum and then heading out in
the sun to naturally allow her hair shade to lighten: ''I did this as a
girl when I was living in the Dominican Republic. You soak hair with rum, then
go out in the sun.''
