Australian
model Miranda Kerr has spoken on the topic on her career as a model, insisting
that she never expected it to last as long as it has. Miranda began working
aged just 14, and is always surprised when people tell her that her career is
"starting to take off" because she has been working for years on more
commercial jobs. Miranda explains that her career might look different to those
in the fashion industry: "It's funny, some people have recently said,
'Oh your career is really starting to take off', which is weird. I think they
forget I've been doing this since I was 14. Maybe it just seems that way
to the fashion crowd as for a long time I was doing more commercial jobs. I
just feel lucky. I never thought it would even last this long."
Miranda
first stepped in to the spotlight and became a famous name after becoming a
Victoria's Secret Angel. She has since quit working with the company, but says
she loved her time with them and simply needed something new: "I
treasured my time with [Victoria's Secret] I wanted a new challenge, a new
scene."
The
model recently split from husband Orlando Bloom and she admits she has now
begun dating again: "I'm dating. I'm loving it. Two happy parents are
better than two unhappy parents. This is my time to explore and have some fun.
I'm not looking to fall in love again quickly. I still get chatted up
a lot. I've had some crazy, ridiculous proposals—stuff that you wouldn't even
see in the movies. No blind dates, however, and I never google a man's name
before I meet him."
