British
legendary model Naomi Campbell may be about to launch her own fashion
collection. According to Naomi, she is currently in talks with a few brands who
are interested in working with her on a new line and she is very interested in
bringing her glamorous fashion sense to a new collection: "I've been
approached by a few brands to design a line for them. It's something that
interests me and I'm in negotiations."
The
model says her designs won't just be for women of colour, and she hopes to
target women who want to look sophisticated and mature. She said that she wants
her vision for the line to appeal to everyone: "Now I've grown up a
bit more... I will design not just for women of colour, but for all, I see
there's lots of things that are not there that I feel that I'd like to have,
and so I'd like to share it with everybody."
Naomi
is close friends with model Kate Moss, who has designed several collections of
her own with Topshop, and she comments that she loves to wear any designs her
friends create: “I’m always so proud of my friends who develop great lines
in fashion, I’m genuinely happy to wear the clothes they create.” The
model adds that she has waited until now because she was worried about
designers not wanting to work with her if she had her own brand: “I always
had this feeling of, I love working with designers — I don’t want to be their
competition, and maybe if I do my own line they won’t work with me anymore, I
see there’s lots of things that are not there that I feel that I’d like to
have, and so I’d like to share it with everybody. So yes, I will, and hopefully
one of the things will be out by 2015.”
