Fashion
and technology continue to combine in new, exciting ways that may also change
how we interact with technology on a daily basis. The latest impressive
innovation is a stylish handbag that can also be used to charge up your phone.
Simply named The 314, the luxurious new bags are crafted in Italy and are
currently only available to pre-order before they hit the market. The
technology used in the bags was designed at MIT and allows any USB device to be
charged while on the go. It also lights up when you open up the bag, enabling
you to see the contents within easily. Theodora Koullias is the designer behind
the company Jon Lou, who are producing the new product.
Commenting
on moving into the tech world with the battery-charging bag, Theodora stated
that she wanted to make women's lives easier and believes the new handbag is
empowering for women to own: “We really view the handbag as a tool for
empowerment, one that can facilitate and enhance the way in which women work
and communicate.” She adds that fashion and technology are often out of
sync and she wanted to unite them: “This is a problem with wearables
today. When people complain about the fashion missing from the tech, and the
tech missing from the fashion, it’s because the two sides most likely haven’t
created the product in sync.” The bag wirelessly charges and even orders
its own refills when needed, so the user doesn't need to plug in the bag at
all, it's all easy and fuss-free.
