Victoria
Beckham has won the fashion world over since launching her own namesake fashion
label, showing at low key presentations at New York Fashion Week and also
landing luxurious stockists both online and in physical stores. Now, Victoria
is taking the next step by establishing her first stand-alone store. The new
flagship store will be located on Dover Street in London and will open in
Autumn 2014.
Commenting
on the big leap, Victoria stated that she is excited about the move because she
believes she is now in tune with her customers and loves the new location she
has selected for the store because it's a cool, up-and-coming part of
London: "I think the time is now because I know my customer. It will
be the first time that the people will really be able to see the brand through
my eyes. It's young and cool. There are great galleries in the area.
There's Dover Street Market directly opposite of us, which is not a bad
thing."
The new building will be far from basic - it
measures 7,000 sq ft over three floors and Victoria has enlisted the help
of renowned architect Farshid Moussavi to help her create her vision for
her first ever location: "[Farshid] is a woman who loves
fashion as well. She has quite a conceptual eye, which I like. We want to
make something different without making it overly complicated. I just want it
to feel real for me."
The new store will house everything designed by
Victoria Beckham, including the 'Victoria Victoria Beckham' line and a full
range of accessories. Victoria says she continues to dream about expanding. She
also recently set up a NY office: "I'm taking my business very
seriously... To take it to the next level, I need a team on the ground living
and breathing everything here in America."
