London-based
luxury store Selfridges is now currently hosting a new exhibition and special
pop-up shop in collaboration with shoe label United Nude, displaying a host of creative
designer shoes for footwear fans to marvel at. This marks the third time the
company has chosen to show off their pieces in Selfridge's exhibition space and
it's all a part of the store's new festival - named 'The Festival of
Imagination' - which explores and celebrates fresh ideas in collaboration with
United Nude.
The
festival is inspired by two of Harry Gordon Selfridges' mantras:
"Develop imagination, throw away routine… Imagination is the mother of
originality; we encourage imagination in every way possible."
Rem
D.Koolhaas, the found of United Nude, commented that he is excited to be
involved in Selfridges' special festival because he believes imagination is one
of the most important aspects of design and he is happy that creativity is
being promoted so heavily through the fashionable festival.
He
adds that the company are placing a firm focus on creativity and the idea of
simply 'thinking outside the box' which he sees as very important and
beneficial. He said: “We are super excited to have our own United Nude
exhibition and pop-up shop at one of the world’s best shoe departments for the
Festival of Imagination. Imagination is the number one fuel for
creativity and without it things simply wouldn’t be designed. Time imagine
means to think new, to think outside the box, to dream and to invent.”
The
exhibition is open currently, running until February 9th 2014.
