“This
is a summer look that’s all about the eye,” François Nars,Founder & Creative
Director of NARS cosmetics has picked up on the trend which swept the catwalk
for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2014 season - attention grabbing eye makeup.
Examining the makeup looks, it was obvious that both the mainline Marc Jacobs
and diffusion Marc by Marc Jacobs collections were having a love affair with
statement blue eyes and it's so simple and effortless to recreate their looks.
The
Marc by Marc Jacobs Look: This was a bright blue eyeshadow applied very simply
to the lid and slightly blended upwards (not too heavily, the look wasn't
particularly smoky or diffused). The blue colour was intense, so a few layers
may be needed to build up a similar level of bright colour. They key to copying
this catwalk look is to leave the rest of your makeup natural - minimal dewy
foundation and nude lips, with nothing on the lower lashes or waterline.
The
Marc Jacobs Look: Paired with a shaggy cropped hairstyle, this look had a punky
vibe perfect for a night out. Eyes were lined in a dramatic blue eyeliner on
the lower and upper eye. Complete your look with a dramatic cateye which
extends from the inner corner of the eye and flicks out from the side. Add
mascara but no eyeshadow or lips - remember that the eyes should stand out as
the focal point and nothing else should attract attention.
These
two catwalk beauty looks can be tried out in any shade you like so experiment
with matching your eye colour and make a dramatic beauty look that is original
and bold.
