Actress
Olivia Wilde is the new face of H&M's Conscious Exclusive Collection. The
new line, which has just been unveiled, is made of sustainable fabrics and
Olivia poses in the new pieces for the campaign images which were captured by
photographer Lachlan Bailey and styled by Ludivine Poiblanc. Olivia is
passionate about sustainability in fashion and previously launched 'Conscious
Commerce'. Speaking on the topic, the actress says that she believes it
currently has "a bad reputation" but she hopes to show that it
doesn't have to mean there is any sacrifice to style or quality. She explained:
"Sustainability has got a bad reputation, especially in fashion. I think
people assume the clothes will be dull, the fabrics uncomfortable and the
design uninspiring. It's like people think sustainability is a penance. This
couldn't be further from the truth, and the H&M Conscious Exclusive
collection shows that sustainability is no compromise on style."
Olivia
hopes women will be encouraged by the collection to "act responsibly"
when buying clothing and she would love to influence the fashion industry for
the positive. She believes all clothing should be sustainable because it saves
so many resources and the end results are the same. She commented on the
changes she’d like to see: "I hope the collection empowers women around
the world who love fashion but want to consume it in a more sustainable way. It
gives them the chance to look their best, and also act responsibly. I also hope
the rest of the fashion industry is watching. I think this is how all fashion
should be."
