Former
'Sex And The City' actress Sarah Jessica Parker is about to launch her first
shoe collection and she admits she is feeling "extremely nervous" at
the prospect. Working with George Malkemus to create a new range of
designs which are simple, feminine and also quite functional (she believes her
pumps can fit in almost anywhere), Parker has said that she is worried that the
shoe collection won't be successful because so much effort, thought and capital
has been sunk in to the project to get it off the ground: "I'm
nervous. I'm nervous that George has invested so much time and effort and money
into this project. Will it prove to be worth it? Will people respond to these
shoes? I'm excited to have the opportunity, but I'm extremely nervous."
Parker
has commented that she believes she's going to be quizzed by fans on the best
occasions to wear her shoes but she thinks they can be worn in many different
scenarios and would look at home in the office or even worn to a more important
event such as wedding: "I'm going to five cities to talk about the
shoes, and this is what I will hear: "Are you sure I can wear this to
work?" And I'll say, 'Why does this make you any less capable in the
office than your black pump?' Who told us these things? No one's at fault, but
it's a real adjustment to say to someone, 'Absolutely, you can wear that to
your meeting. Absolutely, you can wear that to your parent-teacher conference
or for a wedding.'"
