Beyonce
Knowles' sister Solange has become known for her eclectic, bright and original
sense of style over the years. The DJ is now turning her hand to shoe design in
a bid to revamp the classic Puma disc trainer with the help of Gerlan
Marcel, Darlene and Lizzy Okpo of William Okpo and Hisham Bharoocha to give the
trainer a new Brazilian inspired look. She commented on her new creative role
at the company: "It is in my new role that I am able to express my
love for not only design but the conception of creative ideas, and the
execution of them by curating amazingly talented teams."
Regularly
spotted on the front row during the recent New York Fashion Week presentations,
Solange's effortless and eye-catching style is always flawless no matter what
she's doing. However, she has said that she does have trouble with one element
of dressing - preparing for the colder winter months. She says that part of the
problem is that designers wants her to wear their spring collections and
they're not appropriate for the still freezing NYC temperatures. However, she
has been impressed by Anna Dello Russo who she spotted wearing nothing but a
strapless dress despite the cold: "I'm doing horribly. All the
designers send you spring samples and it's really hard trying to make the
transition into winter looks. I've been doing really bad. But I did see
[Vogue Japan's editor-at-large] Anna Dello Russo walking up in a strapless tube
dress with no jacket on the street, so I am not a champion."
