Foods for gluten-sensitive people are appearing everywhere. However, it is really hard to restrain a desire. Finally, you may have fried pie (and pizza) and eat it!

What is gluten?

It is a kind of protein which exists in some grains such as oat, wheat and black wheat. Foods made from these ingredients – bread, pasta, cake, pie and canned meat, etc. – contain gluten.

Is it harmful to us?

It does no harm to most people. But it will be harmful if you get the digestive disorder (CD), a chronic and genetic symptom which is shown by shelf-immunity reaction towards gluten. And it causes injuries to your bowel and the absorbing ability. CD can increase the possibility of osteomalacia, mental troubles and even cancer.

What are the symptoms?

Getting cramps in your stomach, flatulence, swollen, chronic, constipation or diarrhea or gaining weight for no reasons

However, people can be gluten-sensitive without catching CD, and many people get the similar symptoms, with headache and exhaustion.

What happens if I catch it?

CD and gluten-sensitiveness are hard to diagnose. Doctors recommend that you don’t have gluten in some months to see if the symptoms are improved.

Non-gluten apple pie

Prepare: 20 minutes + waiting

Bake: 15 minutes + cooling

Yield: 10 pies

·         2 cups of mixed flour to make cookies/non-gluten cookies

·         ¾ cup of sugar

·         1 packet (1/4 ounces) of ferment

·         1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder

·         ½ teaspoon of salt

·         ½ teaspoon of apple pie scent

·         ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon

·         1/8 teaspoon of baking soda

·         ½ cup of warm water (110 – 115 degrees)

·         6 tablespoons of butter, melted

·         ¼ cup of apple fried with sugar

·         Average temperature in room

·         1 tablespoon of vanilla extract


·         1 cup of apple juice

·         1 tablespoon of butter

·         2/3 – 3/4 cup of sugar containing corn powder

Non-gluten apple pie

  1. In a big bowl, mix the first 8 ingredients. In another bowl, whisk water, butter, apple, and vanilla until blended. Add other dry ingredients; stir until blended. Cover and leave it for 10 minutes.
  2. Cut a small hole in a plastic bag, pour glutinous flour into it. Pour into a greased 6-hole pie mold, fill ¾ of each hole with flour.
  3. Bake at 325 degrees in 11 – 14 minutes or until brown. Cool in 5 minutes before putting on a rack. Re-do with the remaining flour.
  4. About the cover, in a small pan, boil the apple juice; cook until the liquid shrinks to 3 tablespoons. Move to a small bowl; stir the butter until it melts. Stir the sugar containing corn powder until it is condensed. Embed well each half of the pie. Put in a rack, leave it rest until it is condensed.

Nutrition facts: 1 pie contains 273 calories, 8g fat (4g saturated fat), 18mg cholesterol, 565mg sodium, 47g carbohydrate, 4g fiber, 4g protein.
