'American
Hustle' star Amy Adams has been hitting the red carpet in style over the awards
season (most recently wowing at The Oscars in a figure-hugging strapless navy
gown) and she's now spoken on how she makes her big red carpet fashion
decisions. The actress comments that there are some designers she always goes
back to and feels as though she can rely on them to create great red carpet
looks. She adds that feeling "womanly" is very important for her when
it comes to event dressing: ''There are certain designers who I
refer to as zip-ons, designers who I have zipped on many
times. I like to feel supported and all those designers I just
mentioned have some internal structure that accentuates, rather than squishes.
I want something that makes me feel womanly.''
Although
there is so much criticism to face when stepping out at a big event, Amy
comments that she has become more relaxed about her fashion choices and doesn't
want to view dressing as a "sport" because it becomes a very negative
thing. Instead, she likes to work with designers to get her outfit to be just
the way she wants it: ''I've relaxed a bit more over time ... I don't like
that it's become a sport, and that every aspect of you is picked apart, but I
like working with designers to create a look. By the end of the
process, you feel like an extension of their creation, so you step
onto the red carpet thinking that, rather than it all being about you.”
