British
model-of-the-moment Cara Delevingne recently launched her second collection of
bags which she has designed in collaboration with heritage label Mulberry.
Speaking on her new collection, which consists of several unique bag designs
including luxurious leather backpacks, the model said that she set out to
create something both stylish and practical. As a model, Cara is constantly on
the move and wanted to design something that suited her lifestyle: "I like
to carry them three at a time. Honestly, they're just really practical. It was
important for me to design something functional that fits in with my lifestyle,
and the backpacks are it."
Commenting
on working closely with Mulberry on the pieces, Cara says it was an
"amazing" experience overall and she is happy with the end results.
She adds that she tried to find a balance between aesthetics and
function: "The whole process was amazing, and I'm very happy with the
final designs. The bags are just what I wanted them to be - cool and beautiful,
I had lots of ideas, but the biggest challenge was to create a bag that could
keep up with my lifestyle, as I'm always on the move!"
The
model says that while she always had an idea of what she wanted to create, she
also did her best to address the needs of Mulberry's customers too: "I had
an idea of what I wanted to do, but I also wanted to ask questions and get a
sense of what the Mulberry customer wants from a bag. I knew I really wanted to
do a rucksack, so I was really happy when they agreed that would work."
