Lily
Allen has opened up on the importance of fashion events, admitting that when
she receives an invitation she's hoping for business opportunities. She
believes events like the recent MET Ball are important to celebrities because
they give them a "presence in fashion" which might land them a high
end campaign if they're lucky, as well as other chances to work within the
fashion and beauty sector which might not otherwise come their way. She
explained that she thinks businesses watch to see who looks good on the red
carpet and offer jobs to those who impress: ''Anything can
be consumed on the internet so you're constantly trying to think of
other streams to make money out of because you're not going to get it
from record sales. Things like going to the Met Ball are important because
they give you a presence in the fashion and beauty arena and hopefully some
beauty brand might think 'Oh she looks quite pretty'. ''
Lily
says that while she loves to be invited to huge events, she admits it isn't
that much fun. She doesn't see it as a chance to unwind and enjoy herself
because there is a lot involved in preparing for the red carpet and everything
has to go perfectly on the right so it is always a lot of effort: ''It's
really lovely to be invited to those things. It's not a night out
with your friends, it's not fun, everyone is like lets pose for the camera and
is a little bit stiff.''
