This
year's MET Ball 2014 is set to take place tonight, and many designers are
looking forward to gracing the red carpet for fashion's biggest celebration of
the year which marks the opening of a special exhibition honoring designer
Charles James. As head of the event, Vogue editor Anna Wintour has insisted on
a white tie dress code, and also asked that each designer have a custom look
created by another designer in attendance, shaking up the usual red carpet
experience. Marc Jacobs has commented on what he's set to wear for the
occasion, revealing that his outfit has been created by Saint Laurent designer
Hedi Slimane and will fit the required dress code: ''I think it will be
black with white tie, as the dress code asks for ... [I'll be wearing] Saint
Laurent.''
At
last year's MET Ball, Jacobs turned heads and simultaneously hit headlines for
wearing a black sheer lace dress and boxers, but he admits this year he'll be
opting for a more simplistic look which he candidly says is slightly
disappointing because he had fun showing off his flamboyant side last
year: ''I mean it's not exciting as wearing a lace dress and boxer shorts,
but that was only for Miuccia Prada. This is much more
straightforward.'' Jacobs also commented that he will accompany legendary
actress Jessica Lange, who is the current face of the Marc Jacobs beauty
campaign, on the red carpet for the big event: ''I will be escorting the lovely
and brilliant Jessica Lange.''
