British
model of the moment Cara Delevingne stars in British heritage label Mulberry's
very unique Spring/Summer 2014 ad campaign which was inspired by a spring tea
party - but with a surprising new twist that makes it stand out. Photographed
by renowned fashion photographer Tim Walker who the company work with each
season to create their original campaigns, Cara is seen posing in 60s inspired
white dresses and the label's new luxurious leather handbags for the season
ahead while surrounded by a mixture of adorable animal friends and fresh
blossoming flowers in vibrant colours.
A
spokesperson for the fashion house commented that they wanted to put a spin on
the usual tea party tale by adding cute animals. They said the inspiration
was: "a charming English tea party, with a Mulberry twist and some
unexpected guests including a Parson’s Jack Russell, a Patterdale Terrier and a
Great Dane, a pelican, two cockatoos, a tortoise and a little white (and very
greedy) pony." They added that Walker's photography was perfect for the
campaign because it gives “a romantic, literary and very British feel to
the Mulberry brand.”
Art
director Ronnie Cooke Newhouse added that the label chose the 18th
century Shotover House in Oxfordshire as the location and commented
that “The spring 2014 campaign was a beautiful but naughty tea party with
Cara and her ark of animals — the perfect Mulberry moment. They didn’t have the
best table manners, but Cara was very forgiving.” This is the second
season Cara has been the label's face, previously appearing in Mulberry's
Autumn/Winter 2013 images.
