As always, there is usually one clear trend on the red carpet during awards season and it looks as though we’re on to a winner already. At the Golden Globes 2014 this weekend, several stars turned up in gorgeous scarlet shades. Thankfully no one was left turning red themselves as they all looked individual as they hit the – er, very red – carpet. Here is a run through the top 5 red looks that were spotted.

1.      Amy Adams

‘American Hustle’ actress Amy Adams sizzled in a plunging red duo-tone haltherneck at this year’s Golden Globes. With a short train that gracefully followed behind her, the drapey loose-fitting look was flattering and an original choice for the evening’s big event.

2.      Emma Watson

Going for something modern yet minimal, Emma Watson stood out in an orange red gown which featured a front slit detail. Hugging her figure on the top half which was comprised of a t-shirt style neckline, the dress further highlighted her with a waist ribbon bow. Emma’s dress flowed out from her mid-section creating a feminine silhouette that wasn’t overly dramatic. It was sleek and understated, perfect for the actress.

3.      Julie Delpy

Also jumping on the red dress trend, Julie Delpy wowed in a one-shoulder gown which featured an invisible (or barely there) thin strap which held up the upper section of her look. The full bodied skirt added drama, while she completed the ensemble with a metallic clutch and gold waist belt.

4.      Lupita Nyong’O

In one of the most statement takes on the trend, rising actress Lupita Nyong’O turned heads in her amazing red cape dress which hugged her body in all the right places. Resting off her shoulders and running all the way to floor length, this gorgeous gown is stylish and on trend for the season ahead. Lupita worked the look beautifully with simple makeup and barely any other accessories to distract.

5.      Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift hit a high note with her strapless red gown. Accented with a black neckline, Taylor’s dress hugged her around the waist and flared dramatically to the ground. It even included a short train that followed behind her.
