British
model Lily Cole is a strong and very vocal supporter of ethical fashion, and
the beauty has shared several of her top eco-friendly fashion tips for those
looking to update their wardrobes. She is also enthusiastic about designers who
care about animal welfare and fair trade. She commented that one of the best
ways to be environmentally friendly with your fashion choices is by shopping
vintage, because it's just another way of recycling. She also loves clothing
exchanges because they're a great way to find new clothing while going green: ''I really like the animal welfare
ethics behind what Stella McCartney does and I'm a fan of Erdun, Ali Hewson's
company, which promotes fair trade in Africa. Wearing vintage is
a good way of being sustainable because you're reusing and recycling. I love Soho's Bang
Bang Clothing Exchange and Retro Women in Notting Hill.''
Commenting
on her top beauty products, Lily says she prefers to select only items that
have been created with a fair trade ethos. She dished on the essentials she
always keeps on hand: ''The Body Shop, Dr Hauschka and Young Living all
source their products under fair trade conditions. I always make sure I have
Eve Lom cleanser and Dr Hauschka eye cream in my bathroom cabinet.''
When it comes to her diet, Lily is still very conscious of the environment and
says she shops for fresh produce, as well as protein sources: ''I always
seek out local fresh produce ... I'll pick up fresh vegetables, oats,
cacao, hummus or tofu.''
