American
designer Donna Karan is celebrating the summer with a new capsule collection
named 'The Journey' which will be available to customers who can then
immediately wear them, unlike when collections show a season ahead at Fashion
Week. The summery pieces are made for the warm weather and even feature fabrics
that have been created to look specifically sun-faded. Pieces are floaty, loose
and relaxed - perfect for the warmer months. Donna believes the new designs
will instantly spark the imagination of any women who talks in to a store and
sees the pieces: "When a woman walks into a store, she wants to be
inspired."
Donna
wants the capsule collection of 40 pieces to be instantly wearable because she
thinks that most women are looking for items to wear immediately for the
current weather. The designer explained that the new designs are made just for
women who are shopping to fill a space in their wardrobe that they see at that
moment. The designer spoke on what she believes her customers want: "She
shops for things she can wear here, today -- yet also knows she can wear it
into the next season. Especially midsummer. She knows she can't live at the
beach. But she can take that spirit with her when she heads back to the city
and into fall. Everything goes back to black, whatever the piece."
Instead
of using up her store space with Pre-Fall 2014 designs, Karan opted for the
collection to be available during the months of July and August.
