Fashion
designer Frida Giannini has successfully designed for Italian fashion house
Gucci for 10 full years this year, but new rumors have emerged that she may be
considering stepping down from her role at the label, with stories suggesting
that she could be replaced by the likes of Riccardo Tisci or Joseph Altuzarra. Addressing the
headlines, Frida says that there isn't any truth to the stories and the head of
LVMH, Francois-Henri Pinault, has already assured her that her role isn't
in jeopardy currently: “These rumors are self-generated, and even engaged
François-Henri Pinault, who came to Rome and told me they were not true.
Actually, he was concerned that the rumors would not let me work
serenely.”
Frida
recently renewed her contract with the company and comments that she is working
hard with those involved in the Gucci company to fight back against dropping
profits over the last year after they saw a fall in sales: "There is
good harmony, although we know it’s a delicate moment for the markets."
Despite
shooting down current rumors regarding her departure, Frida admits she isn't
going to stay with Gucci until she retires and would like to allow someone
fresh to take over her role. She also believes she would enjoy making a change
in her life at some point in the future: “If you ask me if I will be here
at 60, I would say no. I think that at a certain point there must be a change
and you have to make room for the new and younger generations.”
