British
singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor has opened up on her personal style. Known for being
quirky and original when it comes to dressing up, Sophie comments that her
wardrobe isn't packed with designer items and she mostly buys vintage items.
However, when she does fall in love with something that has a designer price
tag, she is happy to indulge herself from time to time. She commented that she
will invest in well-made designs: "My wardrobe is mainly vintage and
high street with a little bit of designer. I’ve indulged in things like Miu Miu
shoes. When I’m doing my gigs, I really stomp my feet so investing in good
footwear does work out well because they still look OK after 50 gigs."
Describing
her dress-sense, Sophie reveals that she is attracted to feminine designs that
stand out for their originality and fit in with her often vintage or
cartoon-inspired look. She isn't a fan of simple boring colours and loves to
experiment with loud prints when she gets the chance: "I think my
style is quite feminine but I like strong silhouettes and am sometimes quite
cartoony. I like bold colours and prints. I like stuff that has a little bit of
fun to it and I don’t like to play it safe."
On
her essential beauty products, Sophie says she swears by sun cream for her fair
skin and loves MAC makeup products: "If it’s sunny, then factor 50
sun cream. I’m pretty pale and so are my kids so we have to look after our
skin. With make-up, I keep going back to brands like MAC but I’m pretty playful
really."
