travel

Many people are afraid of traveling regardless of the exciting and exotic nature of their destinations, because they have to endure long flights or road trips. They do not like the idea of breathing in dry and recycled air or being confined for many hours. More importantly, they are afraid of exposing themselves to germs and increasing the risk of getting various infections. However, there is no need to worry. You can stay healthy by following a few simple tips.

1) Drink plenty of water

When you are traveling by bus, you may not like the idea of stopping frequently to visit the bathroom, but it is important for you to drink plenty of water at least on an hourly basis. This is because it helps your skin by keeping it hydrated.

When traveling by plane, the drying effects dehydrate your skin easily and quickly because of the low humidity levels. Hence, in order to counteract them, you should drink a lot of water or fruit juice. Remember, dehydration does not only cause a lot of discomfort but it also compromises the resilience of the immune system and in effect, it affects your skin.

2) Use sunscreen and wear a hat

The sun can greatly affect your skin if you are traveling by road in broad daylight. You should therefore ensure that you provide maximum protection for any skin that is exposed to it because its rays can reach it even if you have closed the windows of your car while you are inside. You should protect your skin by wearing a hat that has a wide brim and using sunscreen. These two measures will help in the prevention of premature aging of your skin and the development of age spots and freckles on it.

3) Eat a lot of vegetables and fresh fruits

When traveling by road, it may be difficult for you to find vegetables and fresh fruits. However, before you start your journey, you should pack some oranges and apples in order to avoid any inconvenience. Instead of eating greasy fries and burgers when you stop at fast food places, choose salads. Vegetables and fresh fruits help in giving your body plenty of moisture because their water content is very high.

4) Avoid eating snacks that have white flour and sugar

When you are traveling, candies and other types of sweets may tempt you but you start craving for more after eating them. The nutrition that white flour and sugar provide is poor because they have calories that do not help your body. Your skin experiences their negative effects and in effect, it develops numerous problems. Hence, instead of eating snack cakes and candies, you should opt for whole grain snacks and nuts.

5) Use cleansing wipes

You will not be able to take care of your skin the way you do on a regular basis when you are traveling. When you are traveling throughout the day, making your skin care routine a priority is not easy. However, this should not be an excuse for not cleansing your skin on a daily basis. When you are too exhausted, cleansing wipes provide a perfect solution.
