Katie
Holmes, who has worked closely with major makeup brand Bobbi Brown, has opened
up on the beauty advice that her mother gave her. Katie says her mom Kathleen
always advised her to stay as natural as possible but that makeup can be used
to subtly enhance a person's natural good looks. Katie says that using her
creativity to work with Bobbi Brown has been a fun and interesting
experience: ''My mother, Kathleen, is a decorator. She's always told me
that looking natural is the most beautiful. Make-up should make us refine our
beauty. The creative side of the job is really fun and I discovered that the
responsibilities that go hand-in-hand with it could also be
fascinating.''
Although
there may be constant pressure to look amazing in the spotlight, Katie says she
has reached a point in her life where she can let go of that worry and doesn't
feel stressed about her appearance anymore: ''Even though I'm in an
industry where what people think of you has a huge importance, I've stopped
worrying about it. The only thing that matters to me is feeling good. And
living life with serenity.''
Katie
admits her daughter Suri already loves make-up and she is trying to teach her
to wear it more subtly: ''My daughter Suri loves make-up. Usually I can't
find my make-up when her friends come over. I tell her to be subtle with it.
You can always put more on. Start with one product. You wouldn't wear all your
jewellery at once.''
