Legendary
supermodel Linda Evangelista makes a surprise return to the fashion world,
appearing in the new campaign for Italian label Moschino. The company is
currently going through an image overhaul as American fashion designer Jeremy
Scott puts a new quirky personalized spin on the historical design house's
signature pieces, taking inspiration from both the archives and popular culture
(the latest collection features large 'M' McDonald's motifs on many items).
Opening up on why he selected photographer Steven Meisel to capture Linda for
the simple black & white campaign images, Scott explained that he sees his
work as an art: "People always ask me who my favourite photographer is and
that would be Cindy Sherman, but my favourite artist is Steven Meisel".
Linda and Steven have worked together on several well-known magazine shoots and
campaigns in the past, particularly in the 90s.
In
other news related to the label, Scott will soon debut his first menswear
collection for Moschino and he's opted to show his new vision at the upcoming
Men’s London Fashion Week event in mid-June. Explaining why the company decided
to pick the London event to unveil the new collection, a representative
explained that Moschino believe it is a very international event and one that
also embraces uniqueness: "The choice of London originates from the
desire to express wit and humour. A city where the crowd is international, the
casting is interesting, and the atmosphere has the right and appropriate vibes
for the first men's collection designed entirely by Jeremy Scott."
