The heat is on – and you’re working 9-5.
Here’s how to survive summer in the office, Glamour-style
Staying cool while looking professional is
more about what you leave off than what you add on. So, don’t sweat the big
stuff; it’s the little things that make all the difference. Want to say no to
make-up meltdowns, out-of-control hair frizz and unhappy skin? Keep reading! We
can’t guarantee a totally stress-free work zone, but looking good is the one
things you won’t have to worry about.
1. Fuss-free brows
Big brows are on trend – which is great
news if you have full arches like our model, but what if they’re more on the
slender side? Relax. Brows come in all shapes and sizes. “It’s not so much
about following a trend, but making the most of your brows,” says Vanita Parti,
founder of Blink brow bars. “Don’t try to create volume where there is none,
but work on the balance of your brows – enhancing rather than enlarging.” Tidy
the edges by plucking stray hairs, pretty up your shape (most brows are uneven)
and define them seamlessly by lengthening the ends with a soft pencil. We like

2. Classic liner always works…
Liner paired with a nude mouth is the LBD
of the beauty world: “It goes with everything and is just so pretty,” says
make-up artist Kirstin Piggott, who created the looks on these pages. For
ultimate heat-resistance, use a waterproof liner such as Double Wear
Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil Duo in Onyx/ Sapphire $ 33 esteelauder.co.uk and draw
a little upward flick at the ends to “elongate the eyes”. For handy on-the-go
lip touch-ups, use Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Heaping

3. …and so does a flash of color
If you are up for something a bit more
edgy, but still want to look office-appropriate, go for a colorful eye shadow.
The secret? Stick to a single shade in a matte texture and wear it just on your
upper lid. Whatever hue you pick, use it to draw a V-shape just beyond the edge
of your eye, to create a slightly angular cat’s-eye look. Add a neutral lip in
a sheer finish and keep cheeks soft with an earthy blush. For great bright,
head to Illamasqua and Mac Cosmetics.

4. Focus on lips
Why? Because 1) a vibrant mouth makes an
impact, and makes you look made-up with minimum make-up; and 2) when it’s so
hot that everything else melts off, lipstick will stay put if you choose a
long-wearing formula. We love color Sensational Fresh LipStain $ 10 Maybelline

Or for something different… If you’re not
used to strong colors on your lips, try them on fingers and toes instead.

5. Frizz? What frizz?
Increased humidity can turn your hair into
a frizzy mess. To combat the dreaded pouf, add more moisture (trust us, it
works). Tame thick hair by rubbing in an oil-based product before heading out –
