Baby girls are often spoony, so that
building confidence will be very helpful to them when they are grown up.
Encourage assertiveness
In every debate, girls tend to be the ones who
condescend though their opinions are right. However, you should teach your
children about the way to show their opinions and stand up for their points
which they consider to be right when your baby girls were small.
Parent should allow and encourage children
to express their feelings and personal opinions honestly. Do not show your fierceness
and punish children when they debate something against you. The punishments
without explanations sometimes make children to be shy, ensconce themselves and
be afraid of speaking their opinion in everything.
Parent
should allow and encourage children to express their feelings and personal
opinions honestly.
Give compliments to particular things
Do not give children compliments that are
general. Instead of “very good” and “well done”, you should give more
particular compliments like: “you’re very good at math”…. Children will be
appreciated to you particular comments and compliment, which help them take
notice of promote their advantages and improve the weaknesses.
Encourage skills
Baby girls will get discouraged easily when
they fail doing something and might think that they don’t have the required
abilities to manage the work. If they ask for your help, instead of helping
them right away, you should encourage children to give another try on doing the
thing. And when they manage to do something, they will recognize that they have
more abilities than they thought.
Encourage a healthy model
On magazines, music video and
advertisements, there’re many images that stimulate girls in puberty to have
the same perfect bodies, which makes some girls lose self-confidence about the
fact that their bodies aren’t as beautiful as girls on the magazines and
advertisements.
You should tell your girls from times to
times that those girls in the magazines and advertisements don’t have those
bodies and a body that is too skinny like those girls will be harmful to
health. Stimulate their confidence by giving them compliments about their
clothing styles and explain to them that a beautiful body doesn’t need to be
too skinny but need to be balance and healthy, which dues to sensible daily
diets and exercises.
Don’t foster discrimination on any gender
Emphasize
the fact that there’s nothing too difficult and out of your and your daughter’s
reach.
Some girls think that there’s work that
only men can do. That reliance is not good at all. You should encourage them
and if possible, join with you girls to learn about simple skills in practical
life, such as changing light bulbs, having vehicle maintenance…. Those kinds of
work seem to belong to men. Emphasize the fact that there’s nothing too
difficult and out of your and your daughter’s reach.
Point out the important role of female
Make the most of the chance that comes to
tell your daughter about it. When watching news or reading a newspaper, point
out the female political model, doctors and athlete… so that your daughters can
see that women can do hard, important things and reach many social statuses.
When
watching news or reading a newspaper, point out the female political model,
doctors and athlete…
That not only helps the girls to feel
confident in doing things, but also makes good starts for conversations about
how those women gain successes. Those conversation will be more helpful than
general advice which could be “you should study well and work hard to be as
successful as those people…”
Share teaching methods to people
Finally, you should share the methods that
help you build confidence in your daughters to people that have effects on you
daughters like their teachers, grandparents…. That will help you to unify the
education and help the messages that given to your daughters will be
consistent.
