Each baby will develop in its own way, but there are some reflexes that all normal newborn babies have such as sucking, jumping.

These reflexes show intelligence ability of babies. If babies have reactions that aren’t keen, you need to ask pediatrician on time to detect the problem.

1.    Stepping reflex

Many parents are often excited and proud when they recognize that their newborn babies have sign of walking. However, this is a usual reaction of babies. When babies are born, they have available reaction about stepping. When adults lift their armpits up, help them stand up straightly and let their legs touch some surface, babies always have sign of standing on tiptoe and want to step.

2.    Suckling reflex

Newborn babies always seek for mothers’ breasts to suckle milk. When babies recognize anything that touches to their mouths, they will turn their heads back, open mouths and make movement of sucking while their hands begin to have sign of caressing.

3.    Sucking reflex

Sucking is the second natural reflex after suckling. When babies’ lips touch anything, they will tend to suck naturally. This reflex explains why they can be bottle-fed as soon as they are born. Babies that are born prematurely have difficulty in doing this reflex. They also have reflex of taking hands on their mouths and suck fingers or the whole hand.

4.    Jumping reflex

Babies will jump when they hear a big noise or there is movement around them. For example when babies are sleeping, you get their blankets out of them, or touch their bodies lightly. In this reaction, babies often raise 2 hands and bend 2 legs and they can cry. This reflex can last in 5-6 months.

This is the most basic reflex that is used to define the developing level of brain. If babies don’t have this reaction, their brain won’t be normal, so parents must especially appreciate.

5.    Catching reflex

Newborn babies like to catch mothers’ hands. You should caress babies’ palm to give them chance to catch your hands. Newborn babies that are healthy will catch hands tightly. Babies themselves can stretch fingers to make hand stretch because their ability to control brain is primitive.

6.    Reflex of turning neck

When you let babes lie on their front, their weak necks will try to list their heads a little, after that they will turn to each side with stretched arm. The arm on opposite side curves like babies are holding sword. To check this reflex, you should only do in a short time to avoid causing tiredness for babies.

7.    Self-defense reflex

Babies will bend when they are touched or cannot open their eyes clearly when facing sunlight. When you clap their thighs lightly, their legs will jerk back.

8.    Reflex of toes

If you often play with babies’ toes, you can easily recognize these reflexes. When you caress babies’ sole, their big toe bend in the front and other toes tend to do like this.

Other reflexes

If you cover babies’ faces with a towel, their bodies will move. And they will cry if you don’t take up the towel for them.

When babies are changed diaper, their bodies will be difficult to please and their 2 legs will kick like riding a bike.

The posture of fetus: When babies lie on their backs, their hands and legs must have been bent posture. If some hand cannot bend, that hand has problem. If their legs don’t bend and bolt, babies can have problems with brain.
