The Southwark Tavern A
popular pub with a wide range of drink and food. The debtors bar, down
below, has individual booths that come with televisions. Footstool In the basement of St John’s, Smith Square, this is a good spot for a lunchtime snack. Anchor and Hope Don’t
be put off by the queues. The food is some of the best around. Great
English ingredients make this a wonderful gastropub experience. Monmouth Coffee Company Serving
arguably the best coffee in London, this atmospheric café in the heart
of Borough Market also has delicious pastries and snacks. The Anchor at Bankside Snug, old English pub with tables outside in summer. The dining room upstairs serves traditional English food.

Vinopolis Wine Wharf The bar of this modern temple to viticulture has a vast wine list plus 20 varieties of champagne served by the glass. Swan at the Globe Wonderfully
located café on the first floor of this handsomely restored
Shakespearean theatre building, with a fine view of St Paul’s (see Shakespeare’s Globe). Market Porter A popular, historic market pub. Open for traders and all-night ravers from 6–8:30 am. Rake A fine selection of beers is on offer at this pub near Borough Market. The outdoor decking area is great for summer drinks. George Inn London’s
only surviving galleried coaching inn is a maze of plain, wood-panelled
rooms and upstairs bars. Bar meals are served at lunchtime and there is
an à la carte menu in the evenings. Courtyard tables are pleasant for
dining in the summer months.
Restaurants
The Cinnamon Club Innovative Indian cuisine served in comfortable, club like premises. Skylon Named
after the symbol of the 1950s Festival of Britain, the Southbank’s
restaurant is a classy affair. Guests have a fine river view, along with
classic British dining. Baltic London’s
most spectacular eastern European restaurant offers excellent dishes

in beautifully coverted railway arches, this restaurant serves modern
