Disney's
latest film, 'Maleficent', which stars the beautiful Angelina Jolie, is already
a fashionable affair. So far, British designer Stella McCartney has designed a
line of children's clothing inspired by the film and MAC Cosmetics are also
releasing a selection of makeup with dramatic dark shades taken from the hit
movie. Now there will also be a luxurious jewellery collection released by
Crow's Nest Fine Jewellery. Opening up on the collaboration collection,
designer Daniel Belevitch commented that the designs use key symbols and
elements from the film, such as dragons, spikes, etc. The results are dark yet
elegant. He explained: "It's a seven-piece collection of contemporary and
statement rings, bracelets and earcuffs, taking inspiration from and interpreting
the key elements of the film. Each piece is set in rhodium with black diamonds,
featuring a pear shaped onyx, which contrasts to the green tsavorite that has
become signature for my core pieces."
Belevitch
adds that he believes the Maleficent character is interesting because he
believes many people probably understand her dark beauty. He says that she may
be slightly misunderstood and has a lesson to teach us, which is something he
tried to incorporate in to the new jewellery designs: "She's a dark
character but with a beauty as well. I think she's misunderstood and we can
learn something about ourselves from her. I hope my interpretation of the
character, that I tried to capture within the jewellery, reflects how other
people feel too - dark but beautiful." The pieces are priced
between £2,500 to £13,500.
