results of the first-ever national hair survey, as well as simple solutions to
your most common concerns.

Can
you over-shampoo your hair?
‘When you look around the world, hair-wash
frequency varies enormously,’ points out Dr Steve Shiel, director of scientific
communications for P&G Beauty. He adds that in Spain and Italy, the average
frequency is less than twice a week, which contrasts significantly with
Americans, who wash their hair almost daily. But despite these differences, Dr
Shiel asserts that there’s no right or wrong when it comes to how often you
cleanse. ‘It’s whatever fits with your personal routine and your styling and
care needs,’ he remarks.
7 in
10 women wear their hair pulled back when they’re having a bad hair day.
Consider
a fast fix
There’ nothing more frustrating than when
you’re running late and you fail-safe everyday style doesn’t look like it
should. Take control (and get to work on time) by pulling your strands up into
a chic ‘do. Ponytails and buns are an easy option and the secret to a polished
look is in the finishing touches. For a more glamorous ponytail, conceal the
elastic by wrapping a piece of hair around it. Then tame fly-aways and frizz by
misting hairspray onto the palms of your hands and lightly smoothing over your
head. If your lengths are looking dishevelled, work with this texture by
lightly backcombing the ponytail, then wrapping it into a loose bun and
securing with bobby pins. Be prepared for any styling stresses with Wella Pro

Shield
your shade
According to Joh Bailey, stylist for
TRESemmé, water is the biggest threat to the intensity of your hue. Maintain
your colour for longer by limiting its exposure to H2O, Bailey suggests
stretching out the time between washes by using a dry shampoo to mop up any
oiliness. Then, when cleansing, always use a care range designed to treat the
unique needs of dyed lengths. We recommend Herbal Essences Colour Me Happy
