There’re some popular mistakes that nearly
all parents have done to teach children.
Parenting is always moms’ and dads’
concern. Every father/mother has his/her way with good and bad sides. However,
there’re some popular mistakes that most parents make when raising their
children.
1. Over-teasing children
Teasing
just makes kids sad.
If babies enjoy singing but parents always
tease and laugh at them when they sing, they will be very sad.
Sometimes adults think what they said to
children was just a joke. It can only make them cry a little, and they will be
okay soon. In fact, kids are vulnerable. The joke can destroy their faith in
parents.
Not only the 6-or-7-year-old kids, kids at
the age of 3 or 4 are getting to know the world around, so the first
information that they get is very important. If adults joke them at wrong time,
wrong place, they can’t figure out what is right, they’ll lose the faith in
adults and self-confidence.
2. Comparing your child to other kids
Comparing
is a very popular mistake of parents.
Comparing is a very popular mistake of
parents. Those comparisons like: “The A’s kid is not only good at studying but
also obedient while mine is…” or “Your parents still studied well despite the
rough condition. Now you have good condition all and you don’t even try
studying”… won’t never worth. In contrast, they will feel the complex about
their situation and become stubborn.
3. Punishing without careful consideration
Punishing
your children for the wrong fault is a popular mistake of parents.
Kids are very dynamic and mischievous, so
it’s normal when something broken or someone complaining about what they did.
To raise a kid, parents need careful consideration. If children makes mistake,
find out the reason instead of scolding them or punishing them right away.
Besides, do not judge your kids like:
“You’re always the sloppy one.”, “you’re so heedless that you lose things all
the time…”. Listen to your children before scolding or making any judgement.
4. Lying when kids ask to buy something
Teach
children to buy thing that is really necessary.
Children psychologist’s statistics show
that a kid can ask its parents for 100 things a day. As parents want to stop
their children from asking, they answer immediately: “I don’t have money”, or
“I can’t afford it. We’re very poor”. After that, children stop requiring and
parents are relieved.
However, those lies which are thought to be
harmless have no effect on educating children. When children are older, they
can see that their parents do have money. So, when kids ask for things that you
don’t want to buy, honestly refuse and simply say: “I have money but I won’t
pay for it because it’s too expensive” or “My money is for buying vegetables,
meat and milk…”
At the same time, moms can make more
explanation about why they can’t buy anything that their children want, and let
them choose things that are more necessary. It will help create the habit at
children about carefully considering what (to ask moms) to buy.
