There are foods that can be dangerous
for children to eat.
Children that under 1 year old are still
under development. Therefore, moms should choose foods that are suitable to them
and avoid the foods below.

1. Salt
Children’s kidney can adapt to a great
amount of salt. According to expert’s recommendations, you shouldn’t let babies
eat more than 0.4g salt a day. Some foods that have a high level of salt like
cheese, sausage, bacon should be limited, too.
2. Sugar
Moms shouldn’t children under 1 year old
eat sweet cake, biscuit, candy, ice-cream… because those high-sugar foods can
cause tooth decay while baby’s teeth are still young. Hence, you’d better put
an essential amount of sugar in baby’s meal.

3. Honey
Honey is not only a healthy food, but also
used for disease treatments. However, for kids under 1 year old, honey can
perform their great effects. That’s because honey has a high level of sugar and
contains the spore of Clostridium botulinum that can cause poisoning,
constipation and comatose to infants. Hence, honey is in the inhibited-food
list of kids under 1 year old, so moms should take notice.
4. Strawberries
The sweet strawberries that are rich in
vitamins are the perfect choice for family daily meals, but for babies, it’s
just opposite. Strawberries not only have lots of acid that affects baby’s
stomach and intestine, but also create irritation like prickly heat.
5. Eggs
Egg is a source of protein, vitamin D and
minerals; though, it can cause allergy to babies. Do not let babies eat raw or
uncooked eggs. The only way to let babies eat eggs safely is that you have to
make sure both of the egg white and egg yolk are well done. Nonetheless, you
need to take notice of the fact that you should only feed your kids with the
egg yolk because the protein in the egg white can cause allergy or allergic
development in the future.

6. Fruit juice
Juice has a great amount of sugar but a
great loss of the nutrients that are only in the origin state of the fruit. The
under-1-year-old babies who have too much juice won’t be able to fully absorb
mother’s milk, formula milk and nutritious foods, which leads to malnutrition.
The 6-month-old ones can try some juice in
their meal. Start with a small amount about 1-2 ounce/day. When babies grow
older, you can feed them 4 ounce/day. The juice needs extracting from clean and
safe fruits. Do not let children drink industrial juice or something high-sugar
like soda.
7. Shellfish
Shellfish as shrimps, crabs, oysters,
snail… can easily cause allergy, so it’s recommended by doctors that you should
only feed children with it a year after they are born. Before feeding babies
with shellfish, you should ask for doctor’s advice and learn about your family
allergic history.
8. Fibrous foods
Kids grow fast, so they need providing with
calories and nutrients. Fibrous foods like fruits and vegetables are good for
them, but the high-fiber foods like black bread and other high-fiber bread
should be put away from baby’s meal. That’s because those foods make babies
quickly feel full and avoid eating other foods, which decreases the absorption of
those important nutrients like calcium and iron.
9. Some kinds of fish
Moms should avoid fish that has a high
level of mercury, such as shark, swordfish, maclin… because mercury can cause
bad effects on baby’s development in nervous system.

You should avoid
feeding babies with pate including vegetative pate, because it can contain
listeria bacteria which cause poisoning to babies.
11. Cow’s
milk
Although formula milk comes from cow’s milk,
but you shouldn’t use cow’s milk as a drink for the under-1-year-old babies.
Not like formula or breast milk, cow’s milk has too little amount of potassium
and vitamin, so it can’t afford the needs of the baby’s development.
Besides, the under-1-year-old ones can’t
digest the enzyme and protein in cow’s milk and the compound of it can harm them.
12. Some
kinds of cheese
Moms
shouldn’t let children under 1 year old eat soft cheese.

very high. Instead of soft cheese, moms can feed kids with granular cheese and
cheese ice-cream which are both safe and rich in calcium.
13. Grape
and hard foods
Seeds like corn seeds, the whole grape, raw
vegetables, dried grape, confectionery and small hard seeds shouldn’t be
allowed for babies to eat because they are the top reasons of choking in
children. So, moms should cut those foods into very small pieces and cook them
well before feeding babies with them.
