Wonderful nutritious value of yoghurt will lose if mothers feed babies incorrectly.

Yoghurt is good for the digestive system of little babies, but this wonderful effect can be useless if mothers let children eat yoghurt too much or with incorrect way.

Many parents catch some conceptions and mistakes in feeding children with yoghurt.

1.     Conception: Yoghurt and yoghurt with liquid form are one

At present, in market, besides finished produce yoghurt from pure milk through fermentative process, there are many kinds of yoghurt with liquid form. The main component of yoghurt with liquid form is cow’s milk or milk powder, sugar, sour acid, lemon acid, apple acid, flavoring and preservative… Many parents believe that yoghurt and yoghurt with liquid form are good for children’s health.

In reality, nutritious value of these 2 kinds of yoghurt is completely different. Nutrition in yoghurt with liquid form is 1/3 pure yoghurt, so they cannot be used to replace each other.

2.     Conception: Let children eat yoghurt anytime

Many parents believe that yoghurt is wonderful remedy for digestive system of babies, so they let babies eat yoghurt anytime. Actually, this is an incorrect view. If you let babies eat too much, it will affect excretion of solvents in stomach, it will reduce craving for food and make belly cold...

·         Children under 1 year old: 50-100ml

·         Children 2-3 years old: 100-200ml

·         Children over 3 years old: 200-300ml

Note: If children eat a lot of yoghurt, parents should reduce milk.

3.     Conception: It’s better to reheat yoghurt

Some mothers have habit of putting yoghurt in microwave to reheat or soak in boiling water because they consider that lactic bacteria operate strongly in warm environment (keeping with yoghurt), so such temperature of microwave and water is safe.

Actually, waves in microwave will destroy bacteria that are useful for digestive system and protein in yoghurt. Using too hot water to soak yoghurt can also affect these bacteria.

The best way is that taking yoghurt out of fridge about 45 minutes before eating or you can soak yoghurt with formula: 2 boiling 1 cold and turn over to make yoghurt cool all.

4.     Conception: Yoghurt has more nutrients than cow’s milk

Many people think that through fermentative process, cow’s milk will change to yoghurt, so it has high nutritious value. In reality, nutrition of these 2 kinds is similar and yoghurt is easy to absorb and digest.

5.     Conception: Let children eat yoghurt and combine with foods freely

Yoghurt combines with strawberry or bread, sweet cake will be a perfect couple and it will bring high nutritious value for baby’s health. However, processed foods such as sausage, smoked meat, frozen foods processed from meat shouldn’t be eaten with yoghurt because they can cause constipation, stomachache, and even death.

6.     Conception: Eating yoghurt before meals is the best for children

Some mothers think that eating yoghurt before meal will help babies eat more and digest better. However, this thing can make yoghurt lose its effect because lactic bacterium in milk will be destroyed by gastric juice.

The best time for feeding children with yoghurt is after main meals, after taking medicine about 2 hours. At this time, bacterium in yoghurt will have the most suitable environment that can contribute to digest and absorb foods effectively.
