Beats
by Dr. Dre have launched a new set of headphones to commemorate the 2014 Super
Bowl this weekend. The company have unveiled two new designs, each one
representing a specific team - a pair in white gold for the Denver
Broncos and yellow gold for the Seattle Seahawks. The once-off accessory will
be presented to each team member playing on the day.
Dr.
Dre's executive vice president of global marketing Omar Johnson commented on
the idea, stating that they collaborated with Graff Diamonds to give each pair
of headphones an extra sparkle. He said the designs should also be seen as an
additional prize to those taking part: ''This is the biggest game,
on the biggest stage, being played in one of the world's most famous and
beloved cities. We collaborated with premiere jeweller Graff Diamonds to create
a headphone that would be precious enough to commemorate that moment, something
that these athletes would not only want to wear but could also warrant a place
in their trophy cases.''
The
custom headphones are said to have cost $25,000 per pair and won't be for sale
to the public. The company have other plans to promote their Beats Music
online streaming service by teaming up with Ellen DeGeneres, creating a
campaign which will feature during the Super Bowl. Ellen said: ''I'm
partnering with Beats Music. I love them because they're changing the way you
listen to music. They have a new digital streaming service that brings you
totally personalised music. You can download the app on your phone, then hear
any song at any time.''
