Ford
Mustang are looking to give their company a fashionable makeover with several
new projects that will revamp their image - British actress Sienna Miller
previously posed for a new campaign captured by photographer Rankin, and now
the car company will collaborate with five fashion designers who will design
exclusive pieces for a new collaboration collection. The designers involved
are Anna Sui, Paula Cademartori, Francesco Ferrari of CO|TE and Pamela
Love.
Anna Sui
spoke on designing for Mustang, stating that she believes they are a company
that changes with the times and so she felt inspired by their rich history
while still staying true to her usual design aesthetic: “Fashion is
ever evolving, and is a historical representation of what is going on in the
world. As a designer, I am constantly inspired by everything around me, but it
is important for me to remain true to my aesthetic and identity. Mustang has
accomplished the same.”
Susan
Lampinen, Ford group chief designer said that Mustang wanted to team up
with these five particular designers so they could bring fashion closer to
their industry. She adds that she believes both industries are similarly
passionate about being creative and expressive with their
designs: “Mustang embraces passion, power, adventure and freedom, and by
partnering with top designers known for their expressive personality and works
of art, we are blending the parallels between the fashion and automotive
industries like never before. The Mustang Unleashed collection celebrates
the passion and freedom of Mustang, and its inspiration to pop culture during
the last 50 years.”
